The right products for complicated applications: Floating PV systems in Holland

written byBunyamin BaltaProject Story

Floating PV systems open up new possibilities for utility-scale PV installations, for example for hydroelectric power plants and treatment, irrigation reservoirs or aquaculture farms. They offer higher power generation through cooling of the water and reduced dust formation, less line losses and environmental impact.

Special situations bring with them special risks: splash water, dynamic loads due to the constant movement of parts, contaminated water or a damp (and salty) environment. The solution is cabling and interconnection components from the HIS CONNECT portfolio that are optimally tailored to the requirements. The materials are water-resistant, can be buried and are verified by numerous tests (e.g. DIN EN 60529).

This means that stable and reliable operation can be guaranteed over the long term. No loss of yield, reduced maintenance costs, high quality.

Projects in Holland

As HIS Renewables GmbH, we supply eleven projects in Holland with a total of 180 MW. We also supplied our HIKRA solar cables, pre-assembled cables, and for systems with central inverters, additional DC combiner boxes and other connecting parts for our customers. The products we supplied for the projects are ideally suited for use in and on water. In this way, we ensure longevity, safety and thus our customer's investment. As the only supplier that can produce pre-assembled cables, we are particularly pleased about the possibility of uncomplicated and quick installation of the system, which is associated with a low error rate and therefore very low maintenance costs. You save costs and ensure the profitability of your system. With a size of 41.1 MW, the largest of the projects is in Sellingen, followed by almost 30 MW in Uivermeertjes, 27 MW in Bomhofsplas-Zwolle and 14.5 MW in Sekdoorn. The project in Sellingen now holds the title of the largest floating photovoltaic system outside Asia.

From planning to execution, HIS Renewables is always at your side from start to finish.
